M3 Series Plastic Fiber Optic Sensing Patch Cords

The M3 series plastic fiber optic sensing patch cords are miniaturized optical signal transmission components specifically designed for industrial sensing applications. Their core features include an M3-sized connector and internal plastic fiber optic (POF) transmission medium. They emphasize a compact structure, precise sensing, and adaptability to industrial environments. Often paired with fiber optic amplifiers, they are used in various short-range detection scenarios.

Transmission Core: Utilizing imported plastic optical fiber as the core, common specifications include single-core 1.0mm and dual-core 1.0mm. Some high-end models use multi-core plastic optical fiber combinations of 0.25mm×16 cores to adapt to different sensing signal transmission needs. The fiber core is mostly made of PMMA material, paired with a low-refractive-index cladding, suitable for the red light band around 650nm, meeting the short-distance transmission requirements of industrial sensing.

M3 Connector: As a core interface component, it adopts a miniaturized design to fit the compact ports of sensing devices. The shell material can be customized, with some models made of stainless steel, providing a certain degree of wear and corrosion resistance. It can accurately connect to devices such as fiber optic amplifiers, and after connection, it has high positioning accuracy, ensuring stable coupling of optical signals between sensing and receiving devices.

Protective Structure: The outer diameter of the fiber optic sheath is typically 2.2mm. The entire cable uses a flexible PVC sheath. Some industrial-grade models optimize the sheath's toughness for better bending performance, with a minimum bending radius suitable for internal cabling requirements. The connector and cable transition is designed to reduce the impact of pulling on the fiber core during cabling, thus improving durability.

Miniaturization and High Adaptability: Compared to conventional connectors like FC and SC, the M3 connector is smaller, allowing for easy embedding in compact sensors and small detection modules. This solves the problem of limited wiring space within industrial equipment and aligns with the integrated design trend of automated equipment.

High Sensing Accuracy and Adaptability: Some models are equipped with high-precision polymer focusing lenses and small-spot convex lenses, enabling small-spot detection. This allows for precise capture of subtle material changes or positional deviations, improving the sensor system's target recognition accuracy and making it suitable for precision detection scenarios.

Interference Resistance and Industrial Scenarios: The plastic optical fiber itself is non-conductive, immune to electromagnetic interference from inverters and high-voltage equipment in industrial workshops, preventing sensor signal distortion. Furthermore, it poses no electrical safety hazards and can be used at sensing points near metal components or areas with high voltage.

It is widely used in fields such as visual sensing equipment, industrial robots, food processing and packaging, precision inspection of automated equipment, and automobile manufacturing.
