China's POF Cable Exports Stay Strong in H1 2026 On Smart Home And Auto Demand
China's exports of Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) and plastic-sheathed fiber optic cables have maintained a steady upward trajectory through mid-June 2026, supported by robust demand from smart home systems, new energy vehicles, and industrial automation.

Export Destinations
China's POF and related cable shipments are primarily destined for the European Union (Germany, Netherlands), Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Thailand). Key applications include automotive MOST networks, machine tool interconnects, smart home cabling, and short-range security wiring.
Since early 2026, European automakers have accelerated the adoption of POF in infotainment and sensor bus systems for new energy vehicles, driving export orders from leading domestic POF manufacturers - such as a major Nanjing-based specialty fiber producer - up more than 30% YoY.

Pricing Trends
Export prices for standard Step-index POF (SI-POF) have edged up 5%–8% since late 2025 due to volatility in raw material costs, particularly PMMA core resins and fluoropolymer cladding materials. High-end Graded-index POF (GI-POF) continues to command a significant premium, underpinned by stringent automotive-grade certification requirements.

Expect POF exports to maintain double-digit growth in the second half of 2026 as the ISO 21111 vehicular POF standard sees broader adoption across global OEMs.
