Plastic Optical Fiber Sensor
POF sensor is a complete detection system/product. Its core functionality involves transmitting light signals via optical fiber and detecting changes in light intensity to determine the presence, location, color, material, and other states of an object.
A fiber optic sensor consists of the following components: a fiber optic probe, an optical fiber, and a fiber optic amplifier.

Compared to traditional photoelectric sensors, it offers significant advantages in several aspects, especially suitable for complex or harsh environments.
**Strong Electromagnetic Interference Resistance: Plastic optical fibers transmit optical signals and are unaffected by electromagnetic fields or radio frequency interference, making them suitable for use in strong electromagnetic environments such as high voltage, frequency converters, and motors.
**Corrosion Resistance, High Temperature Resistance, and Moisture Resistance: PMMA material possesses excellent chemical stability, allowing for stable operation in harsh industrial environments such as oil, acid, alkali, and high humidity conditions.
**Small Size, Light Weight, and Good Flexibility: The optical fiber is thin (approximately 0.5–1 mm in diameter), allowing for flexible deployment and easy installation in confined spaces or on moving parts, such as robot joints and automotive interiors.
**No Risk of Electrical Sparks, Intrinsically Safe: Being non-conductive, it can be used in flammable and explosive environments (such as chemical plants and mines), meeting explosion-proof requirements. Lower cost and easier installation and maintenance: Compared to silica optical fiber, plastic optical fiber has lower material and manufacturing costs, higher coupling efficiency, and simpler splicing, making it suitable for short-distance sensing applications.
Resistant to external stray light interference: Through structural design (such as dedicated probes and modulation/demodulation technology), ambient light interference can be effectively suppressed, improving detection stability.
Supports distributed and multi-parameter sensing: It can simultaneously monitor multiple physical quantities such as temperature, pressure, displacement, and vibration, and is easy to integrate with digital systems.
