Quartz Optical Fiber And Plastic Optical Fiber Structure
Plastic optical fiber, as its name implies, is that the core and cladding of the optical fiber are made of plastic materials. Compared with the large core diameter of 50/125μm and 62.5/125μm of quartz glass multimode fiber, the core diameter of plastic optical fiber is as high as 200-3000μm. It can be connected with cheap injection molded plastic connectors without fiber positioning sleeves. Even the deviation of ±30μm in the core alignment of the fiber splice will not affect the coupling loss. It is the plastic optical fiber structure that gives it the advantages of quick construction and low connection cost. In addition, the core diameter of 100μm or greater can eliminate the inter-mode noise that exists in the quartz glass multimode fiber.
