The Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is one of the traditional Chinese festivals, usually on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month(June.22 nd 2023).
The Dragon Boat Festival originated in ancient China and has a long history and rich cultural connotations. This festival commemorates the Chinese patriotic poet Qu Yuan.

According to legend, in the Warring States Period, Qu Yuan, a famous Chinese patriotic poet, was framed and exiled because of his loyalty to the country. When he learned that the enemy country invaded his country, he was deeply saddened and desperate, and finally chose to commit suicide by throwing himself into the river on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. To commemorate him, the local residents rowed dragon boats into the water, hoping to scare away the fish and shrimps in the river and devour them to eat Qu Yuan's body. Since then, dragon boat rowing and eating rice dumplings have become the traditional customs of the Dragon Boat Festival.
