What is the principle of using optical fiber starry lamp lighting

Fiber optic lighting is a novel lighting technology, with the maturity of products and the development of new application fields, will be more widely used.  At the same time in the popularization of continuous improvement, continuous cost reduction, more mature products.  

Plastic optical fiber is widely used in decorative lighting and short distance information transmission due to its large core diameter and good flexibility.  In the field of decorative lighting, plastic optical fiber lighting is a kind of environmental protection, safety, energy saving, convenient maintenance, unique effect in one of the new decorative lighting.  Because of the characteristics of plastic optical fiber, optical fiber decorative lighting is widely used in advertising, landscape design, entertainment and industrial, medical, museum and other special lighting occasions.  It is the best way to lead the field of decorative lighting in the 21st century.  

Lighting optical fiber has been accepted as early as the 1930s, but it was just an idea and experiment, using fiber mainly cluster glass fiber, because of the high cost, it could not reach the practical stage.

Optical fiber lighting system is composed of light source, reflector, color filter and optical fiber.

When the light source passes through the mirror, it forms an approximately parallel beam.  Due to the action of the color filter, the beam is turned into color light.  When the light beam enters the optical fiber, the colored light follows the path of the optical fiber to the predetermined place.  

Because of the loss of light in transit, the light source is usually very strong.  The common light source is about 150~250W.  And in order to obtain approximate parallel beam, the luminous point should be as small as possible, approximate to point light source.  

The reflector is an important factor to obtain approximately parallel beam.  Therefore, aspherical reflectors are generally used.  

A color filter is a component that changes the color of a light beam.  According to the need, the corresponding color light source is obtained by switching different color filters.  

Optical fiber is the main body of optical fiber lighting system, the role of optical fiber is to transmit or transmit light to a predetermined place.  Optical fibers are divided into two types: end luminescence and volume luminescence.  The former is the light beam to the end, through the taillight for illumination, while the latter itself is the luminous body, forming a flexible light column.  

For optical fiber materials, it must be in the visible light range, and the loss of light energy should be small to ensure the lighting quality.  But in fact, it is impossible without loss, so the optical fiber transmission distance of about 30m is better.  

There are three types of fiber: single strand, multi strand and mesh.  For the single fiber, its diameter is ф 6 ~ ф 20mm, and can be divided into two kinds of volume light and end light.  But for the multi - strand fiber, all are terminal luminescence.  The diameter of multi-strand optical fiber is usually from ф 0.5 to ф 3mm, and the number of strands is usually several to hundreds.
